What is Network Topology?
Answer:- It is a logical diagram of computer networking.
Answer:- It is a logical diagram of computer networking.
Types of topologies.
(2) Bus topology.
(3) Star topology.
(4) Ring topology.
(5) Mesh topology.
(6) Tree topology.
(7) Hybrid topology.
Now we study about all of the topologies in details.
(a) Point to point topology -It is directly link between two
computers. Good things –It is
fast reliable. Bad thing –Its
connectivity is very small. Only between two computers.(b) Bus topology –It is used through one main cable to which all nodes are directly connected. The main cable is the backbone of the network. Good things –It is easy to connect in peripheral device. Its requirement is low and also the cost of network is low. Bad things –If its main cable is break or damage the entire network will be lost. It troubleshoot is very hard and it is not used for large networks.
(c) Star topology –Each computer is connected to a central hub using a point to point connection.Good things –Its startup cost is low and also easy to add nodes. If the connection of one node of our pc is damage after that it will work in other computers. Bad things –If the central hub fails entire network will be failed. It required more cables so its price is high.
(d) Ring topology –
Computers in the network are connected in a circular fashion, and data travels
in one
direction. In it each computer is directly connected to next computer with the help of token
ring. Good things –This type of network is easy to
install and manage. If there is a problem in the network, it is easy to find fault. It handles high volume of traffic.
Every computer is act
like the booster of the signal. Bad
things –If one computers network is damage, entire network will be lost.
(e) Mesh topology –Every node has a direct point to point
connection to every other node. Good things –Network handling
is very high volume traffic. If one of the computers is damage after
that it will work with other computers. It gives high security and data travels
along dedicated
connectivity. Bad things
–It uses lots of data cables so it is more expensive.
(f) Tree topology –It combined multiple star topologies onto
a bus. Hub devices for each star topology connected to the bus.
Each hub is the rout of the tree of the device. Good things –It provides good
flexibility and modified.
(g) Hybrid topology –It use the combination of two or more
topology. It provides a lot of flexibility and it widely used in types of topology.
Example – Star Ring network, star bus network.
Example – Star Ring network, star bus network.
Why we choose topology network?
We choose topology network for:-
- The Type & No. of computers and peripheral devices being used.
- The anticipated speed of data transfer.
- The Types of applications running on the network.
- The required response time of the.
- Costs.
