RAM
RAM is Divided Into Two Types.
1. SRAM – STATIC RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY.
2. DRAM – DYNAMIC RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY.
- CACHE (L1, L2, and L3) memories are in SRAM.
- EDORAM, RDRAM, SGRAM, DDR, DDR2, DDR3, and SDRAM all are in DRAM.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SRAM & DRAM
- SRAM is made up of pure silicon. Whereas DRAM is made up of less pure silicon as compare to SRAM.
- DTR time of SRAM is 0.3ms to 0.8ms.Whereas DTR time of DRAM is 0.50ms to 0.80ms
- Clock pulse generating time is high in SRAM. Whereas clock pulse generating time is low in DRAM.
- Capacitors are more used in SRAM as compare to DRAM.
- SRAM is transferred serial data. Whereas DRAM is transferred parallel data.
- First i explain what is DDR1. DDR1 is the first generation in DDR memory. The full form of DDR is DoubleData Rate. It allows the double data transfer per clock. The speed level of DDR1 is below 400MHZ. And also it is expensive. It is not good for gamer as it not provides the feature required for 3D gaming.DDR2 memory is the second generation in DDR memory. DDR2 has the lowest speed of 400MHZ.It is more faster thanDDR1.DDR2 is also less expensive than DDR1.DDR3 is the third generation in DDR memory. It has lowest speed level of 800Mbps and goes up to 1600Mbps with bus speed as high as 2000MHz. It consume less power and provide maximum benefit, since operating voltage is only 1.5V for DDR3 compared to 1.8V for DDR2. Lower heat is generated, which means that systems will run cooler.
