FILE SYSTEM

                                    TYPES OF FILE SYSTEM IN WINDOWS


    Arrange the files in o/s in hdd is called file system

1. FAT 12 - FILE ALLOCATED TABLE 12 
2. FAT 16 -FILE ALLOCATED TABLE  16
3. FAT 32 - FILE ALLOCATED TABLE  32
4. NTFS - NEW TECHNOLOGY FILE SYSTEM

                                    TYPES OF FILE SYSTEM IN LINUX

1. EXT 2 
2. EXT 3
4. SWAP 

  • FAT 12 used in DOS operating system 
  • all FAT are used in DOS 
  • arrange the files in o/s in hdd is called file system
  •  if we see windows fat in Linux o/s ,it shows V FAT  

               ACCORDING TO MODE, OPERATING SYSTEM ARE OF TWO TYPES

1. CLI MODE - COMMAND LINE INTERFACE 
2. GUI MODE - GRAPHIC USER INTERFACE

  • DOS o/s are used through CLI MODE
  • WINDOWS o/s are used through GUI MODE
  • last DOS version were coming in windows XP

OPERATING SYSTEM ARE ANOTHER OF TWO TYPES
1. CLIENT O/S -  it is a single PC used by only one person
2. SERVER O/S - it is also a single PC , but it is connected through many PC 

                              OPERATING SYSTEM ARE ANOTHER OF TWO TYPES 

1. STAND ALONE - NO NETWORK CONFIGURATION  
2. NOS -  NETWORK OPERATING SYSTEM

  • WINDOWS NT 3.1 IS THE SERVER O/S OF WIN 95 , WIN 98 OR WIN 98 SE.
